Pastor Wayne Gillespie has faithfully served congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for 30 years; and is, presently, the pastor of Christ’s Lutheran Church in Murrysville, PA.

Pastor Wayne is a native of Western Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University and was ordained as a minister after earning his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Ministry has taken Pastor Wayne in many interesting directions. He’s served churches of many different sizes and has actively participated in several ministries that were built to bridge the differences between denominations. He’s served as a part-time chaplain at several local psychiatric hospitals. Pastor Wayne is passionately committed to the safety of children who participate in church activities, and he has been a strong advocate for the adoption of “Safe Child Policies” in congregations and in other church institutions. Pastor Wayne is also deeply aware of the challenges that congregations are facing in the 21st Century and is deeply involved in congregational redevelopment. He, finally, serves as the Senior Vice President of NextStep – a coaching ministry that helps people of all ages to prayerfully discern the “next step” forward in their journey of faith.

Pastor Wayne is an avid bicyclist who enjoys spending much of his free time cycling on the Great Allegheny Passage with his wife, Laurel. He enjoys spending time with family members in Pittsburgh, and always looks forward to special moments he shares with his family and granddaughter in North Carolina. Pastor Wayne enjoys writing music for the piano and organ, playing his banjo and guitar, and has committed many years of his life to family research and genealogy.
